Romneys
In Spring of 2o24, we made the difficult but necessary decision to disperse our Romney flock, allowing us to “right-size” our work load to match what we feel we can accomplish at this point in our shepherding endeavors. We will focus our efforts on our two remaining breeds, Bluefaced Leicesters and Teeswaters, and plan to keep our breeding ewe flock at around 20 total.
We started with Romneys in 1987, and have always felt welcomed in the Romney breeders’ community. We owe special thanks to Kelly Ward, Ray and Marlene Gavin, Linn and Ethelma Barnes, Stephen and Elizabeth Schafer, JoAnn Mast and Kathy Zapelli for being both friends and repeated sources of some of the best traditional Romney bloodlines available in the U.S. We also want to thank all the Romney breeders with whom we have spent many enjoyable hours at shows and competed with in the showring. They are an irreplaceable source of advice, knowledge and amusement. We will still be at our favorite shows (MSWF, NYSWF, MFF) along with a few others, and we look forward to seeing everyone there — look for us!
