After all, they can’t ALL be breeders!

To order, please send us an email at pitchfork@usol.com. Indicate which pelt(s) you are interested in and your zip code. We will figure shipping and send you a PayPal invoice, unless you request another payment method.

When we do decide to cull our lambs, we try to make the most of this unfortunate reality. The meat is, naturally, the most immediate and delicious product of these decisions, but the pelt provides a more long term return. All of our pelts are from unshorn lambs with 3″- 5″ of fleece, tanned washable. They have not been hot-combed, so the crimp, lock and luster is preserved. They make the best and most unique baby shower gifts ever — babies just love them! Other uses include car seat covers, wheelchair seat covers, throws for sofas and chairs, wall hangings or other display uses, and more. Some are best used as craft pelts to cut up and use to make doll hair or Santa beards.

All processed pelts are stored in our smoke-free household. Any flaws are noted and pictured. Holes are 1″ or less (butcher cuts) and are not visible from the top. Measurements provided are the longest and widest dimensions of the pelt. Shipping and insurance (via USPS Priority) is extra. Laundering instructions are provided.

We generally have a few pelts available for sale at all times, varying in size (30- 55 inches in length), color (white or natural colored) and price ($100 to $300+).  See below for what we currently have available.

All pelts in group 1-23 are from lambs aged 6 to 9 months.  We supervise their humane harvest here on the farm, so they are not stressed by transport or fear due to separation or unfamiliar surroundings. The pelts were removed carefully by hand before the carcass was processed by the lamb buyer. Our pelt processor for this set of pelts is Driftless Traditional Tannery in Wisconsin, which specializes in natural tanning, done by hand and without toxic chemicals. They strive to preserve the natural crimp, lock and luster of the pelt, and we are very pleased with the results. We think you will be, as well.

Measurements: 42" x 28"
Fleece Length: 3.00"

This  is dense pelt with relatively fine lock and crimp. It would be great in a chair! There are multiple small holes in the leather that are not viewable from the wool side. Because of the holes, it is priced accordingly.
