We sell clean, well-skirted, premium fleeces. They are guaranteed to be as described or your money back (including shipping!). The price listed is for the entire fleece. Shipping (via USPS Priority Mail unless requested otherwise) is extra and depends upon the destination. You can estimate shipping cost from our ZIP code (48473) to yours at the U.S. Postal Service website. Keep in mind that the box will add about 1.5 lbs to the shipping weight.
All fleeces are shorn and stored in a smoke-free environment.
If you would prefer to receive a ready-to-spin product, we can take the fleece directly to Zeilinger’s Wool Processing in not-too-distant Frankenmuth, MI, for a small fee ($10 to cover gas) thereby saving one shipping charge (if you plan to ship it out for processing). Their website is www.zwool.com .
Fleeces are marked as SOLD when we have received payment. Fleeces marked RESERVED have been spoken for, but payment has not yet been received. They may still be available if the interested party does not follow through. We accept Paypal, personal check and money orders. Email us for our mailing address.
Fleeces are either shorn blanketed (covered while growing during the hay-feeding season) or pastured (uncovered while the sheep is on pasture, therefore no hay contamination). All are well-skirted.
Natural Colored Romney Fleeces
PFR 811 - Junebug (Romney X BFL) 6.20 lbs, 6.00" staple length. Shorn June 2015. Blanketed fleece.
This is a flat-out amazing fleece. This ewe's mother, a Romney, got caught by our natural-colored BFL ram on the sly. Junebug herself looks very Romney-like, but her fleece tells another story. It has the resilience and luster of a Romney, with the fineness and buttery handle of a BFL. The color is black to very dark charcoal, except for the very tips that touched the underside of the blanket (the photo has a fair amount of flash bounce and shows the luster but not the true color). The year resulting from this unique fleece should be incredible. It makes us want to repeat this "mistake" again!
Bluefaced Leicester Fleeces
All unblanketed, but extremely clean (we find blanketing causes cotting or felting at the tips on BFLs).
PFR 792 3.40 lbs, 5.00" staple length. Shorn December 2014. Unblanketed fleece.
A very high luster first shearing lamb fleece. Wider locks and purling yet buttery soft.
PFR 791 3.40 lbs, 5.00" staple length. Shorn December 2014. Unblanketed fleece.
Supreme Champion Ewe at Michigan Fiber Festival! This fleece has finer lacks and purling with good luster. Springy handle and drape.
Lorenzo 3.30 lbs, 4.00" staple length. Shorn June 2015. Unblanketed fleece.
A beautiful ram fleece, shorn in the spring and therefore lacking the "rammy" odor common to fall-shorn fleeces. Nicely formed lock and purl, on the finer side.
PFR 641-DarkEyes 2.70 lbs, 4.00" staple length. Shorn June 2015. Unblanketed fleece.
If you are looking for a consistent, fine BFL fleece, this is it. Finely locked and purled throughout with little variation. Wonderfully soft.
PFR 652 - Lottaya 2.30 lbs, 4.00" staple length. Shorn April 2015. Unblanketed fleece.
Medium lock and purl on a very soft fleece; a textbook BFL fleece.
Teeswater/Teeswater Cross Fleeces
PFR 807 3.50 lbs, 4.00" staple length. Shorn August 2014. Unblanketed fleece.
This high percentage Teeswater-cross lamb was cold-rinsed before shearing, so this fleece has very little grease weight. It has wonderful lock structure with a fine, silky handle. Perfect for spinning or crafting. Very clean.
Edna 3.25 lbs, 5.00" staple length. Shorn February 2015. Unblanketed fleece.
1/2 Teeswater and 1/2 BFl, what a combo! This is a very soft, highly lustrous, beautiful fleece. The locks are distinct with great purling. This fleece is great for crafts or spinning.
Loretta 4.00 lbs, 6.00" staple length. Shorn April 2015. Unblanketed fleece.
Lots of luster and excellent lock structure on this high percentage (92% Teeswater) fleece. Unblanketed but clean.
